Marigot Market, Place du Marché

This scene pictured in this original, highly collectible Serigraph / Silkscreen takes place in the colorful upscale market in Marigot, the capital of French St. Martin, French West Indies. This large open air market features a slate of local produce like the Genip (Spanish Lime), and artists, galleries, restaurants and tropical seaside views. While living on the island, I created a series of original paintings and Limited Edition Art Prints that incorporated influences of the island’s African, French, British, and Dutch heritage.

Opposite the restaurants adjoining the local Caribbean market is a magnificent full-scale figurative sculpture designed by former Grand Case, St. Martin resident, Martin Lynn (Peter Lynn's father). The sculpture, offered to the then Municipalité of St. Martin, commemorates black female market sellers.
